This training will examine the overlapping jurisdiction of Probate Court, Juvenile Court, and Family Court. There will be a focus on matters related to custody, parentage, visitation, and termination of parental rights, and specifically the application of the Connecticut Parentage Act; the Interagency Agreement Among the Office of the Chief Probate Court Administrator, the Judicial Branch, and the Department of Children and Families; the Protocol to Handle Matters Where Family and Juvenile Courts have Concurrent Jurisdiction; and the Protocol for Overlapping Jurisdiction Between Family Court and Probate Court. Additionally, the relevant statutory provisions, Practice Book sections, and case law will be highlighted to outline the procedures among the different courts and where are the jurisdictional overlaps.
